Alto Lazio

Land of Etruscans, Lakes and Papal Villas

16 – 22 May 2010

Lecturer: Dr Joachim Strupp

South of Tuscany and north of Rome, the Alto Lazio is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. The region is one of outstanding natural beauty and little-known artistic treasures. From the quiet town of Montefiascone, home of the famous Est!Est!!Est!!! wine, we will visit idyllic Lake Bolsena, papal Viterbo and the magnificent cathedral of Orvieto. We will wander through the glorious Renaissance gardens of Villa Lante at Bagnaia, Palazzo Farnese at Caprarola and the magical Sacro Bosco of Bomarzo, and will explore the Ancient Etruscan sites of Tarquinia and Cerveteri.
