The ancient county of Suffolk, rich from the wool trade, saw the building
of some wonderful mediaeval churches and houses. Many very beautiful
examples survive for us to explore. We will be based in the lovely royal
town of Bury St Edmunds, which retains a wealth of mediaeval buildings
and where the traditions of the Middle Ages still thrive. The magnificent
Gothic tower of the cathedral was completed only in 2005. Privately owned
historic houses and gardens, some opened just for us, will be a special
feature of this tour.
