The rugged beauty of Derbyshire’s Peak District – England’s
first National Park – shelters some of our most outstanding country
houses, from the Elizabethan perfection of Hardwick Hall to magnificent
Chatsworth with its unrivalled private art collection. Some of the less
well-known houses are no less handsome. Hassop Hall, where our tour is
based, embodies the area’s rich heritage. This splendid house,
Jacobean in origin, modernised in the Georgian period, is tucked away
in a verdant valley. It is now an excellent small country house hotel
with a reputation for fine food. We will enjoy a luxurious few days here,
exploring the delights of this beautiful and unspoiled district.
